Where does inspiration come from?

 

I was waiting on a response from someone who promised

I’d have it by Monday.
Monday came … nothing.
Then Tuesday … still nothing.

 

So I wrote him an email:

“Ya know … Jimmy Buffett had a great song called 

Come Monday

and Lynyrd Skynyrd had a great song called

Tuesday’s Gone …

 

Then I realized, I can’t think of a Wednesday song.

Any song .. about Wednesday.

 

So, can I write one ?

If I really wanted to become a songwriter

Maybe I shouldn’t write about the obvious.

Maybe I should write about something

most people overlook.

 

Wednesday.

It's a song about nothing

No heartbreak, no drinkin', no women, no fightin' 

Can I write emotion, into Wednesday?

 

Funny thing about songwriting

The beginning almost never looks like the end.

 

What started as a joke about a forgotten day

slowly became something much deeper.

 

A metaphor for midlife.

That middle part of life we rush through without stopping

The heart of our life, the best part of the meal

 

For what reason?

Because we're busy, too much on the go

"Stop and Smell The Roses" 

 

Kids are gone, house is now quiet

Things you wanted .. now you miss
Years behind you ..Still years ahead.

 

And somewhere in the middle of it all

You quietly ask yourself:

“Where did those 20 years go ?”
